The Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD) named its award winners yesterday night at a gala ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Deacons’ Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Keith, was recognised as the Director of the Year in the Private Companies-Executive Directors category.
Andrew was lauded for his strong communication skills and wealth of experience across various sectors of business operations and corporate governance practices, including internal control, risk management and succession planning. He has been an integral part of shaping and leading Deacons’ environmental, social and governance strategy and initiatives.
“For over 165 years, Deacons has been a central part of Hong Kong’s success and growth based on servicing all manner of Hong Kong’s businesses, charities and people. We are proud of our deep roots in the business and wider communities,” said Andrew.
“Looking forward, I will continue to work closely with the partners and my colleagues at Deacons to pursue excellence in operations and the delivery of world class legal services to our clients, so as to help support Hong Kong’s continued success and growth.”
Awardees from the evening also included many Deacons clients, such as Lincoln Leong Kwok-kuen, CEO of the MTR Corporation and Ma Wing Kai William, Group MD of Kerry Logistics Network Limited.
The annual HKIoD awards aims to recognise outstanding boards and directors in the city, publicise the significance of good corporate governance, and promote director professionalism. This year’s theme was “Belt and Road: Corporate Governance in Times of Opportunities”.
HKIoD Chairman Henry Lai noted in June that the organisation was specifically committed to establishing corporate governance standards, providing training to directors of companies and raising the overall governance levels of local businesses.
