At the Euromoney Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2017 held on 9 November in Hong Kong, Deacons won the “Hong Kong Independent Firm of the Year” prize, marking our triumph in this category for four years in a row now. Nina Fitzgerald, a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property department, was recognised with the “Asia IP Rising Star” award. Nina represented the firm at the event, along with the Head of Business Development Jayson Williams.
The prestigious awards, the only of its type in Asia for the legal industry, celebrates the achievements of women in the legal profession throughout the region.
Charmaine Koo, the Co-Head of Intellectual Property, said, “Nina is extremely bright and hardworking and is very focused on seeking the best outcome for our clients. She makes an invaluable contribution to our clients businesses and is an asset to the IP team at Deacons.”
Nina helped launch Women in Law Hong Kong, a platform for women in the legal profession to network, collaborate and address issues faced by women working in the legal industry in Hong Kong. She was co-chair of the organisation for two years and is now a committee member.
In 2016, Deacons won “Hong Kong Independent Firm of the Year”, “Best National Firm for Talent Management”, and Catherine Zheng was named “Best in Patent and Trade Mark Prosecution”. In previous years Annie Tsoi, Charmaine Koo, and Lilian Chiang have all been honoured with individual awards.
