Annie Tsoi, partner and co-head of the IP department was recently invited to chair a sharing session entitled ‘Superwomen in Intellectual Property’.
The event was organised by the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. In addition to Annie, the session featured three other highly distinguished graduates from the University’s Faculty of Law:
Each panellist discussed their career trajectory and shared their unique insights and experience. Particular highlights from the session included Anna Wu discussing how and why she changed her career to public interest law. Winne Tam shared the challenges she has faced at the Bar, particularly as an IP specialist rather than a generalist. She also talked about the changes she has seen in terms of IP litigation in Hong Kong. Winne Yeung spoke about her journey from being a private practitioner to becoming an in-house specialist at one of the world’s leading tech companies. Finally, Annie shared her experience of being an IP lawyer in a private practice, and discussed the attributes and skills required to become a successful IP practitioner today.
The session was inspiring and very well attended, with each panellist offering sound practical advice to students considering entering intellectual property law.
