On 9 December 2017, 20 volunteers from all units of Deacons, led by Senior Partner Ms. Lilian Chiang, collaborated with Operation Dawn to support Operation Santa Claus in an event, “Painting with a Purpose”.
The event took place at Dawn Island Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Centre. Its mission is to provide drug addicts and alcoholics with a comprehensive rehabilitation programme to eradicate their drug dependency and achieve healing for the body, soul and mind.
The visit started early in the morning with Ms. Lilian Chiang delivering a welcome message to all participants and members of Operation Dawn. Ms. Chiang shared her personal experience of overcoming adversities to live life to the fullest.
The Deacons volunteers teamed up with members from Operation Dawn to draw pictures and write inspirational quotes on wooden plates for display around Dawn Island. During the arts and craft session, a group of members from Operation Dawn also showcased their favourite hymns through musical performances. Closing the event, graduated members and staff of Operation Dawn led the volunteers on a tour around the scenic and beautiful Island.
Ms. Chiang was interviewed by SCMP on the same date and the resulting coverage is available here.
