Alwyn Li was recently interviewed by Asia Asset Management regarding how European funds could potentially face a delay in participating in the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect programme.
Alwyn commented: “The European custodians, such as the ones in Ireland or Luxembourg, are not yet comfortable to sign off on the A-shares market’s custodial arrangement complying with the regulations under UCITS, as required by their home regulators, because the rules of Stock Connect haven’t been fully released. As a result, the progress has been held up and as such European funds may not be among the first batch to participate in Stock Connect.”
