Deacons boosts corporate finance group in Shanghai

Ronnie Bow, partner, has been assigned to the Corporate Finance group at Deacons’ Shanghai office as of 1st April 2014.

A new addition to the partnership, Ronnie is an experienced practitioner with expertise in Hong Kong IPOs. Recent highlights include advising BNP Paribas Securities (Asia) and Kim Eng Securities (Hong Kong) as sponsor counsel in the listing of Tonly Electronics Holdings and advising Cinda International Capital as sponsor counsel in the listing of the eprint Group; both listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Ronnie also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, regulatory and compliance matters, including recently advising the Components and Materials M&A Private Equity Fund, a division of Korea Development Bank, on its subscription of preference shares in a subsidiary of China Precious Metal Resources Holdings. He further advised on the subscription of warrants issued by China Precious Metal Resources Holdings. Other highlights include representing SEAVI Advent Ocean Private Equity in its US$15 million investment in a PRC based confectionery company.

Ronnie has been working with the Corporate Finance group at Deacons for more than three years and was elected to the partnership in January 2014.

Ronnie will continue to advise PRC clients seeking to list shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as well as financial institutions in need of comprehensive advice on corporate finance matters. He will take the helm of a well-established and experienced corporate finance team with PRC legal qualifications at the Shanghai office. The team will continue to work closely with the 40+ corporate finance fee-earners in Hong Kong.

Deacons was the first foreign law firm in mainland China to have received approval from the Ministry of Justice to establish three representative offices in the country. We operate offices in the major economic centres of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

“I am very excited about Ronnie's pending relocation. Our Shanghai office has an established operating history since 1999 with a very strong track-record of serving PRC, and in particular, Shanghai-based clients. I have no doubt that Ronnie's presence will further strengthen our corporate practice in Shanghai as we continue to offer quality legal services for our clients across China,” says Ronny Chow, head of the Deacons’ corporate finance practice.
