We are pleased to announce that once again Deacons has achieved strong results in the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) 2020 rankings. The IFLR 1000 researches and ranks law firms and individual lawyers on the basis of transactional advice, and provides tiered rankings of the leading financial and corporate law firms for more than 120 jurisdictions, accompanied by analysis of the market trends and the business environment.
Deacons is recognised in the Hong Kong rankings for Banking and finance, Capital markets, Financial services regulatory, Investment funds, Corporate and M&A, and Restructuring & insolvency. A number of our lawyers are also recognised as expert consultant, highly regarded and notable practitioners. In terms of our practices, we are particularly delighted to be consistently ranked Tier 1 for Retail Funds, with the editorial commentary stating that “Deacons dominates in retail funds and hedge funds.”
Our Capital markets and IPO team also received particular recognition, “The firm’s capital markets team had a stellar year acting on the debut Rmb bill issuances by the People’s Bank of China in Hong Kong, and in Rmb10 billion sovereign bonds issued by China’s Ministry of Finance in Hong Kong. Deacons’ IPO practice also had a hot streak from May 2018 to June 2019 advising 20 successful launches in that period, including Xinyi Energy Holdings IPO and Tai Hing Group Holdings’ IPO, which became the largest Hong Kong-listed cha chaan teng—Hong Kong-style restaurant—group on the HKSE.”
