We are delighted to announce that our Intellectual Property Department has been named “Hong Kong Contentious Firm of the Year” at Managing Intellectual Property’s Asia Pacific Awards 2018. Deacons has now been recognised as “Hong Kong Firm of the Year” for three years in a row – an honour that acknowledges our market leading practice in this area.
The announcement was made at the awards dinner held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong on 21 March. Charmaine Koo, co-head of the IP Department and head of our IP Litigation practice, and Catherine Zheng, head of our Patents and Designs practice, represented the firm in accepting this prestigious award.
Partner Charmaine Koo commented, “Over recent years we have seen a substantial increase in the number of IP litigation and arbitration cases in Hong Kong. As one of the most prominent IP practices, we are proud to have played a role in many landmark cases, including Tsit Wing v TWG Tea, The Voice of China (Talpa v Star China), Gmedia v Tencent, and Nokia v Apple.” Catherine added, “We are pleased to represent Deacons and receive this award in recognition of our profile in this area.”
In addition to winning the “Hong Kong Contentious Firm of the Year” award, Deacons was also shortlisted as a finalist for “China Patent Contentious Firm of the Year, “Hong Kong Prosecution Firm of the Year” and “Asia Pacific CSR Firm of the Year”. Please see the full list on MIP’s website.
