The SCMP published an article on 6 December about Hong Kong’s newest land law and its objective to simplify conveyancing procedures and provide greater certainty of property title. Senior Partner and Head of the Property Department Lilian Chiang was interviewed and quoted extensively throughout the story. As one of the most authoritative legal voices on property law in the city, Ms. Chiang provided her views on the new rule’s implementation and its need for clarification. In one instance, she noted: “There are a number of contentious issues such as the provisions of the rectification and indemnity schemes that have not yet been resolved. The government should ensure that property owners are well protected before implementing the law.”
