Our education pillar is based on the foundation of equality and inclusion. Deacons Cares’ educational programmes target different age groups, below are a few initiatives:
Since 2014, Deacons Cares has been working closely with Hans Andersen Club to develop the award-winning ABCs of Law education programme which aims to help children from grass-root families to develop their fundamental knowledge of the justice system and understand their rights and obligations as members of the Hong Kong community.
Another recent milestone of the programme is developing our e-story book collaboratively authored by Deacons Cares’ ABCs of Law editorial team which comprises lawyers and business services staff who are passionate about writing and education. The e-story books are presented to the children of Hans Andersen Club through the online platform as part of the ABCs of Law programme.
View BookDeacons Cares has been participating in different programmes to support teens in the community. One of the significant projects is the Life Buddies Programme, organised by the Commission on Poverty of Hong Kong to promote a mentoring culture amongst companies and individuals. Deacons’ mentors guide the secondary school students in the first step of their career journey and discuss their aspirations, strengths and areas of improvements.
