“Floating” a company marks a significant milestone in the company’s development. Being a gateway to the rapidly growing market of Mainland China and equipped with a well-established and sound regulatory framework and settlement system, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has been one of the most sought-after platforms for floating a company.

Our Corporate Finance team is pleased to publish an updated 2024 edition “Float Guide – How to float a company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange”, which provides an overview of the Hong Kong regulatory requirements and process for listing a company’s equity securities on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, with updates to reflect the latest developments, including, among other things:

  • the introduction of the listing regime for “Specialist Technology Companies” on 31 March 2023;
  • the launch of online platform FINI (Fast Interface for New Issuance) in November 2023 shortening the time between the pricing of an IPO and the trading of shares from five business days (T+5) to two business days (T+2); and
  • the GEM listing reforms that came into effect in January 2024.
